Cameron Turner enters his first season officially on the Bulldog coaching staff. Turner, who has been working as a student assistant coach since the spring, was removed from the active roster after never fully recovering from a shoulder injury suffered at Florida in 2008.
Turner, who graduated in May 2010, played in 18 games in three seasons at The Citadel. He played in five games at quarterback in 2008, starting one and totaling 32 completions in 61 attempts with two interceptions and five touchdowns. He had a long of 50 yards and averaged 52.5 percent on the season. Turner spent the last season as a wide receiver for the Bulldogs, having played in nine games with five receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown.
Coming out of high school, Turner was named a preseason All-American by Tom Lemming, was an Army All-American Bowl nominee, named to Big 12 All-Conference team, Illinois All-Area team and named the team's Offensive Most Valuable Player all for his junior season.
Turner comes from a strong family of football players and coaches, including his father, Ron Turner, who is currently the wide receivers coach with the reining AFC Champions Indianapolis Colts, and uncle, Norv Turner, who is the head coach for the San Diego Chargers.
