Mike Newton enters his first season working as a Defensive Quality Control Graduate Assistant with The Citadel football team.He is responsible for assisting the defensive coordinator and staff.
Newton joins the Bulldog staff after graduating from the Univeristy of South Carolina in May 2009. He was a two-year letter winner for the Gamecocks as a defensive back after transferring from Newberry College. The Lexington, S.C. native was a two-year All-Conference football player and high jumper in high school.

Mike is pursuing his maste's degree at The Citadel Graduate College in exercise science and currently resides in West Ashley.
